Scrubbed mess deck & flats before breakfast. Divisions & church in forenoon. Washed clothes in afternoon. Service in evening. Maud’s 21st birthday.

Ed: Frank mentions Maud, his sister, turning 21. Clara Maud Read (later Chapman) was my maternal grandmother. Frank joined Maud and their brother, Charles, in Canada and lived out his life in Chambly, Quebec.

Scrubbed decks and mess deck before breakfast. Action Stations in forenoon. Mess deck painting party. Went into X Turret to clean up in afternoon. Duty sub and searchlights. Slept under foreshelter deck. Lusitania sunk.

Scrubbed decks & mess decks before breakfast. Submarine battle stations in forenoon. Landed with Reserves team in afternoon. Had trial game to pick team. Had dance in Evening white Crews burnt searchlights in evening.

Scrubbed decks and mess decks before breakfast. Cleaned and went to Divisions. Cook of Mess. Church in forenoon. Presentation to Lady Beatty after dinner. Admiral made a speech. 2nd part of Starboard Watch landed. Lovely day and had very nice walk abour Queen’s ferry. Coaling tomorrow.

Holystoned decks before breakfast. Cleaned flats in forenoon and then gun quarters. Paid during dinner hour. Pipe down in afternoon except for getting in meat and spuds. Quarters at 4 o’clock. Cook of Mess tomorrow. Spent dog Watches preparing dinner.
