Painted ship all day. Over side in morning & afternoon. Dockyard maties came on board.

Put out to sea about 7.0 A.M. Steamed down to Cromarty Firth and carried out 13.5 firing. Told off for recording variation in course. Commander-in-Chief Admiral Jellicoe watching firing from destroyer. Not very good firing. “Queen Mary” left us afterwards and returned to Scapa. We carried on back Rosyth. Had first dog.
