Hands not called until 6.15 as no decks to scrub. Had Exam for P.O. & SS in forenoon. Examined in Anchor Work, H.T. doors.
Boat Work, Rules of Road, Helm & Compass, Sounding Machine, rigging etc. Went into basin in afteroon. Met Weatherstone in
dockyard in evening & had game of billiards with him in his shanty. Heard Result of Eraser (??). Brown, Bill Pacy,
Plowman, Read, Jarratt & Charlie Pacy.
March 7th 1917
Holy stoned decks before breakfast. Action Stations & Spotting Tale in forenoon. Weather still windy & very cold.
“Princess Royal” came out of dock. Thought we were going in but nothing doing. Made munitions all the afternoon. Duty Sub.

Should have gone into basin but delayed 24 hours. Control Stations & Spotting Table in forenoon. Played Foretop men in
afternoon. Won 2-0. Rotten game as wind was so strong kept ball on one wing the whole time.

Should have gone out firing but delayed owing to weather. Very cold. Control Stations & Spotting Table in forenoon. Holy
stoned out corners on upper deck in afternoon.

Ordinary Sunday Routine. Seamen went to Second Church. Played chess with Colin all the afternoon. Turned very cold & windy
in afternoon. Evening Service at 6.30.

Holy stoned decks. Down in Flats in forenoon. Spotting table at 10.30. Landed in afternoon. As Reserve for Ship’s team v
“Crescent”. Went to Y.M.C.A. Duty Sub.

Started coaling about 6.30. Took in 400 tons from Agnes Duncan. Finished before breakfast. Cleaned ship in forenoon. Make
& mend in afternoon.

Action Stations in forenoon. Spotting table afterwards. No make & mend. Hands Holy stoned decks. Landed in afternoon & saw
“Princess Royal” beat “Indomitable” 3-1 after very good game. Hands paid in dog watches.
February 27th 1917
Provisioning Party. Breakfast at 7.0 AM. Started provisioning about 8.45. Finished at 10.30. Joined up part of ship afterwards. Carried on with pinnace in afternoon. Duty Sub. Marc Horton’s Submarine came alongside.
