Painting before breakfast. Down in Mess in forenoon. Landed in afternoon as Reserve for Ship’s team v Crescent. Full team
turned out and so was not required.

January 6th 1917

Painting Party in forenoon. Landed in afternoon and played 1st Div Stokers. Draw 2-2 after very good game. Hands had make &
mend. 

January 4th 1917

Painting party all day. Saturday’s Routine in forenoon. 

January 2nd 1917

Under 1 hours notice. 2nd part of Starboard got after ladder in first thing. Action Stations in forenoon. Saw Captain re transfer to Army. Wash out as Admiral would not grant permission. Short notice washed out. Landed & played Maintop. Won 501. Good game but raining a lot of the time. Told off as stretcher bearer for E.R.A. Tickle who had been cracked playing Rugby. White Searchlight crew burnt Searchlights in evening. I was a drift and scored a rattle. Got a caution. 

December 28th 1916

Munition Party all day. Got rope from Dockyard into “Saxon” in forenoon. Collected munitions and served out rope in afternoon. Returned to Dockyard about 4.30. Stowed grommets etc. Finished about 7.30. Arrived back on board about 7.45. Duty Sub. 

December 27th 1916

Painted ship. Could not start up aloft until the afternoon as paint was not ready. Landed with part of Watch in afternoon. Spent most of time in church Army Hut.

December 26th 1916

Hands called at 6.15. Washed down upper deck and cleaned Mess deck before breakfast. Card Service at 9.30. Church at 10.0 AM. Went to Holy Communion in A Turret lobby after Church. Usual Sunday Routine. Smoking on Mess Deck. Various concerts etc on various Mess Decks.

December 25th 1916

Carried on part of ship again. Action Stations in forenoon. Landed in afternoon & played daymen. Won 3-0. Rotten game & we
should have got several more goals.

December 8th 1916

Seamen landed in forenoon, South Side. Went for good march round. Saxon bumped buoy on return journey but no damage done.
Make & mend in afternoon. Got head down. Duty Sub.

December 7th 1916

Cook of Mess. Carried on with Barge. Gave her another coat of paint. Went under short watch in forenoon & so landing
parties washed out. Hand painted down aloft.
