her first coat of paint. Hands painted ship’s side.

Cleaned out after 4″ magazine in forenoon. Landed in afternoon & played 3rd Divisions of Stokers. Good game. Won 3-0. White Searchlights burnt lights at 6.0 p.m. Pictures of “Battle of Somme” shown again. Watched them for a short time. Cook of Mess. Duty Sub. Had to clean up after Pictures at 10.30 p.m.

Usual Saturday Routine. Cleaning screens etc in forenoon. Saw Captain & Commander again re: commission. Yacht Patrol business a wash out as we had not sufficient experience. Captain very nice and said he would see what he could do for us in another branch. Plowman & two Pacy’s also applying.
Make & mend in afternoon.

Arrived Rosyth at 2.30.a.m. & so morning Watch was not required. Hands called at 5.0.a.m. Went
to breakfast at 6.30. Started coaling Frances Duncan about 9.15. Took in 1200 tons. Finished at
11.30. Cleaned ship after dinner. Finished by 2.30. Heard buzz that Yacht Patrol business was a
wash out.
