Stood off until 12.30. Had trip to Hawes Pier at 1 o’clock and another on return. Kept pretty busy until about 7 o’clock when we started to come
in. Very strong wind and tide and had the dickens of a job to get hooked on, managed it at last after we had broken three heaving lines, lost a
cowl and broken skylight and hand rail.

Hands called at 5.0 AM. Started coaling at 6.30 from “Fordcastle”. Finished about 10.30. Took in 580 tons but seemed much more. Cleaned ship
afterwards. Bathed and went to dinner at 11.30. Got under way about 12.30. 4″ day action crews fired 6 rounds per gun, each battery. Had to train
gun in port battery as well. Also fired sub calibre. Torpedo attack after tea. One hit us and another the “P.R.” Gun crews closed up during
attack. Remainder of crew scrubbed deck as Admiral had dinner party on board. Dropped hook again about 6.0 pm.
