Exercise Action in forenoon. Scraping pitch off decks afterwards. In flat all afternoon.

May 12th 1916

Dried bedding before breakfast. Mustered some afer divisions. Shifted telephone cable from “Doggry” (?) to “Woolwich” in forenoon. Landed and played for “Lions” Rockies & “P.R’s” Rockies. Draw 1-1. Rag time game. Duty Sub. Slept forward. 

May 11th 1916

4″ gun drill in forenoon. Making coaling straps in afternoon.

Scrubbed out pinnace in forenoon. Down in Flat all afternoon. 

May 8th 1916

Usual Sunday Routine. Raining all day. Cook of Mess. Head down in afternoon. Duty Sub. Slept forward.

May 7th 1916

Holy stoned decks. Told off to clean gun in forenoon. Raining hard all day. Make & mend in afternoon. Got head down. 

May 6th 1916

Had Middle Watch. Packed up about 3.45. Hands called at 6.15. 2nd part of starboard on fos’cle at 6.30 to get ready for tying up to buoy. Arrived Rosyth about 7.0 AM. Started coaling at 8.30. Finished at 12 0’clock. Took in 1250 tons. Got crowned with hook but only slightly. Raining all day. Cleaned ship in afternoon.

May 5th A 1916

Had all night in as Search Light crews were not required for morning watch. Working on Coaling Gear in forenoon. “Obdurate” sunk Dutch
trawler which released carrier pigeons as soon as we had passed. “Princess Royal” fired on (?). “Phaeton” “Galatea” brought down zeppelin.
Supporting Air Raid Battle Fleet joined up in afternoon. Thick fog came on about 4.0 p.m. Destroyer nearly ran into our stern and cut out
log line in two. Fog cleared later on.

Discovered when turned out that we had put to see about midnight. Had all night in. Working on coaling gear in forenoon. Head down in
afternoon.
