Out nets again in forenoon. Training class in afternoon. Provision ship came alongside about 3.20. Starboard watch started provisioning until 8 bells and then Port Watch carried on and finished about 5.30.

Saturday’s Routine. Make & mend in afternoon.
January 9th 1916
All night in. Started coaling at 7.30. Took in 610 tons. Finished at 1.30. Good coaling but tiring work. Finished cleaning ship about 4.0.p.m. Glad to turn in. Went to Service in evening.
January 8th 1916
Had Morning Watch. Weather been heavy all the trip. Uncomfortable Roll. Had 1st dog. Got into Rosyth about 11.0 p.m.
January 7th 1916
4″ firing in forenoon. 8 rounds per gun. Firing very satisfactory especially Starboard after Battery (our battery). Heard King Eddy* had been torpedoed. Had last dog.

January 6th 1916
Had Middle Watch. Overslept and was 1/2 adrift. Action Stations all day. Very fed up as there seemed to be no object in it. Did not even close up but had to remain in Battery. Don’t like playing at Sailors.

Out nets in forenoon. Put out to see at 3.30. Had 1st dog.
