Had morning Watch 1.30 till daybreak (3.30). Turned in again at 3.45. Scrubbed decks and went to cleaning quarters before breakfast. Cleaned mess deck and went to Divisions. 4 in drill. (twice on aim). Pipe down in afternoon. Got head down. Nothing doing in German line. Evening Quarters at 4 o’clock. Coal ship tomorrow.

Dried all bedding on upper deck. Holy stoned decks before breakfast. Cleaned mess deck, washed down & dried up upper deck, and then went to cleaning quarters. Make and mend in afternoon. Starboard watch unmoored ship, got in boats and accomodation (sic) ladder at 8 o’clock. Put to sea at 10.15. Had first watch.

Packed up watch at 2.30. Hands called at 4 o’clock and started coaling at 5 o’clock. Had lay in till 6.45 as was on Sick List. Saw Doctor at 8.30 who gave me medicine and told me to carry on part of ship although I could not speak above a whisper. Shifted into coaling rig and carried on about 9.30. Coaling finished about 10.30. Took in 1350 tons from Agnes Duncan. Scrubbed decks before dinner. Took in sand in afternoon. Duty sub. Had the shakes during night watches.

Had morning watch. Scrubbed decks before breakfast. White search light and 4″ drill in forenoon. Pipe down in afternoon. Going in tonight. Prepared for coaling in dog Watches. Got rotten cold and went to Sick Bay for dose. Voice gone. Had middle 10.30 to 2.30. Cleaned pinnace and then cleaned into No. 2’s and had Sunday Routine. Church in forenoon. Pipe down in afternoon.

Scrubbed decks and mess deck before breakfast. Cleaned after Breakfast. Cleaned up decks and Admiral Beatty inspected shops company. Had church and piped down in afternoon. Got in 3: ammunition and prepared for coaling. Coaling tomorrow. Coaling postponed and coaling gear replaced. Going to sea tonight. Think that there may be something going.
