April 4th 1917
Control Stations. Mess deck painting party in forenoon. Went to dinner early. Got under way about 1.0 p.m. Action Stations
and 13.5 firing in afternoon. Dropped hook about 3.30. Hands cleaned into coaling rig and started coaling about 4.30. took
in 400 tons & finished soon after six.
April 3rd 1917
Mess deck painting party. Control Station in forenoon.
April 2nd 1917
Mess deck painting party first thing. Sub Calibre firing and 4 in firing in forenoon. Got under way about 10.0 AM. Dropped
hook again after firing.
April 1st 1917
Snowed hard during night, about an inch of snow on deck. Swept down decks. No divisions owing to snow. Became 1st church. Turned out lovely afternoon & evening. Got head down in afternoon. Went to Evening Service.
March 31st 1917
Hands called at 5.0 AM. Got under way about 6.0 AM and went into Floe for Rougefinding Exercise. Control Stations from
6.30 to 8.0 AM. Dropped hook again about 8.0 AM. Scrubbed decks after breakfast and then cleaned flats. Painting Lieut
Janions cabin in afternoon. Duty Sub.
March 30th 1917
Hands called at 5.0 AM. Started coaling soon after six. Very slow work to start with. Rotten Collier. Took in 420 tons.
Finished at 9.30. Cleaned ship in forenoon. Should have gone out torpedo running and sub calibre in afternoon but weather
too bad. Make & mend until 3.15 when we went to gun quarters. Blowing very hard.
March 29th 1917
Cook of Mess. Painting out Lieut Janions (?) cabin in forenoon. Make & mend in afternoon. Head down. Working nearly all
dog watches. Rotten night. Raining & blowing very hard.
March 28th 1917
No anchor watches required. Got under way about 7.45 to Long Hope Bay. Duty Sub on fos’cle. Dropped hook again about 8
o’clock. 1″ firing in forenoon. Scraping hatches. Got under way about 1.30. Sub calibre in afternoon. Dropped hook again
about 4.0 p.m. Night firing after dark. Got under way about 8.45. White Watch tried 4″ and Sub Calibre firing. Dropped
hook again at 10.0 p.m. Cook of Mess.
March 27th 1917
Saturday Routine. Estrd (?) Side Party all day. Washing down ship’s side. Duty Sub. Told off for anchor watch 2-4. AM.
