Hands called at 6.0 AM. Scrubbed upper deck and cleaned paintwork before breakfast and in forenoon. Very windy day & so
very cold job. Long dinner hour until 2.30. Went to gun quarters then. Started rationing on board. No repayment gear in
future.

March 25th 1917
Had Middle Watch. Arrived Scapa about 3.30. Hands called at 6.0 AM. Cleaned into coaling rig first thing.
Very windy day. Collier did not come alongsige until about 11.0 AM. Went to dinner at 6 bells and started coaling about
noon. Rotten collier. Chocked full and so we could hardly move to start with. Very dusty. Took in 1350 tons. Finished
about 7.30. Swept down upper deck but did not scrub.
March 24th 1917
Had Morning Watch. Control & Action Stations in forenoon. Manouvres with Grand Fleet. Control Stations again from 2-4.45.
Very misty and so could no(t) do much in Rangefinding line.
March 18th 1917
Enamelled out after Mess Deck in forenoon. Pipe down after dinner. Blue Watch had leave from 1.0 pm. Head down in
afternoon.
March 17th 1917
Got shake at 5.30. Arrived on board in time. Painting after Mess Deck all day. White Watch had leave from 12.30.
March 16th 1917
Painting after Mess Deck all day. Watch ashore in Evening. Went to Edinburgh. 2nd house Empire. Slept at Y.M.C.A.
March 15th 1917
Cleaning out and painting Chain Lockers all day. Finished about 6 o’clock. Blue Watch ashore.
March 14th 1917
Got a shake at 5.30. Got on board by 7.0 AM. Gettting cable ready for surveying all day. On Capstan the whole time. Also
saw to parawave gear and shifted ‘B’ Turret round with Capstan. Packed up about 7.0 p.m. White Watch leave. Duty guns
crew.
March 13th 1917
Hands called at 3.30. Only Ammunition Party required & so (?) had sleep on Mess Stove. Main Body went on leave at 9
o’clock. Went into dock as soon as they had gone. Got (?) etc out before dinner. Shifted bags & swept out Mess Deck &
flats in afternoon. Leave piped for Red Watch from 4.30 p.m. to 7.A.M. Went to Edinburgh with Ginger Jervis. Went to see
“Mr. Manhattan” at Lyceum. Very good. Slept at Y.M.C.A.
March 12th, 1917
Carried on Painting Party in forenoon. Men going on leave paid in forenoon. Served out with Railway Tickets in afternoon.
Started getting ammunition up. Not told off for party.
