Hands called at 5.30 AM. Got under way about 7.0 AM. Tried paravanes and ran torpedoes. Arrived back about 1.30. On fos’cle nearly all afternoon.

February 21st 1917

Arrived Newcastle at 5.30 A.M. Missed Edinburgh train and had to wait until 9.35. Arrived Edinburgh 12.45. Got on board about 1.30. Saw doctor at 6.0 p.m. All A.1.

February 20th 1917

Left Sidcup by 9.35 p.m. Just missed 10.30 to Edinburgh and so caught 10.45 in hope of picking it up at Newcastle.

Under short notice. Advance party piped to clean at 10 o’clock. Left ship about 11 o’clock. Had grub at Navy House, Queens ferry and caught 1.45
from Edinburgh. Charlie Life who was leaving ship came with me as far as York. Arrived Kinds Cross about 11.30. Put up at Union Jack Club for
night.

January 29th 1917

2nd Anniversary of Dogger Bank. Painting Party in forenoon. Spotting Table. 3″ H.A. gun to drill. Make & mend in afternoon. Played chess with
Colin. Duty part. Went over submarine after supper. 

January 24th 1917

Awakened about 4 o’clock by Stokers wheeling barrows under foreshelter deck getting coal bags out. Cleaned into coaling rig first thing as we
were under short notice.Started coaling about 8 o’clock. Took in 450 tons. Finished about 9.30. Cleaned ship in forenoon. French Admiral came on
board in afternoon. Joined up part of ship as there was no painting party. Submarine tied up alongside.

January 23rd 1917

Got under way about 8.0 A.M. Went outside for Torpedo running and Sub Calibre. Torpedo running at full speed. Recording for Sub Calibre firing in
Argo. Tied up again about noon. Painting in afternoon. Started munitions at 7 bells.

January 22nd 1917

Ordinary Sunday Routine. Church in forenoon. Pipe down in afternoon

January 21st 1917

Painting party all day. Should have played 4th Div Stokers in afteroon but no boat accomodations & so washed out.
