Painting Party. Got under way about 8.30 for Sub-Calibre firing. Recording in Argo Tower. 3: H.A. drill in afternoon. Captain came round.

January 19th 1917

Cook of Mess. Seamen landed in forenoon (North Side). Nice march. Ground covered with snow. Make & mend in afternoon.

January 18th 1917

Painting Party all day. Hands mustered by ledger in forenoon & saw parchments. Duty part. Put down as reserve for ships team v “Inflexible” but
grounds were unfit.

January 16th 1917

Arrived Rosyth in Middle Watch. Started coaling about 8.30. Took in 930 tons from Agnes Duncan. Finished about 11.30. Cleaned ship in afternoon.

January 15th 1917

Had Middle Watch. Seemed very long. Very cold. Action Stations for about 1/2 an hour after breakfast. Church in forenoon. Head down in afternoon.
First Watch. Supposed to be out after some transports conveying grain to Germany. Heard buzz that destroyers had got them.

January 14th 1917

Painting party all day. Landing parties washed out as we went under short notice. Put out to sea about 7.30 p.m.

January 13th 1917

Carried on painting. Actions Stations in forenoon. Spotting Table afterwards but I was adrift. Duty paid.

January 12th 1917

Saturday Routine. Carried on painting. Came out of short notice about 10 o’clock. Landed and played 3rd Div Stokers. Won 2-0. Good game. Hands
had make& mend. Spotting table in forenoon.

Painting party all day. Landed with part of Watch in afternoon.
