1000 tons from “Agnes Duncan”. Started about 2 o’clock and finished about
7.30. Cleaned ship afterwards. Finished about 9.30 p.m.

Part of net shelf on Starboard Side carried away during Middle. Tactics (?) with Grand Fleet. Action Stations all forenoon. Head down in
afternoon. Sea getting rougher. Had last dog. 

December 20th 1916

Saturday Routine. Down in Mess in forenoon. Got under way with Grand Fleet about 2.30. Submarine crew from 4 till Night Defence. Had first Watch.
Sea very rough.

December 19th 1916

Got under way about 8.0 a.m. 13.5 firing. 4 rounds per gun. Kept Yaw Record in Lower Conning Tower. Finished firing about 10.30. Watched “Renown”
fire. Our firing very good. Proceed to Scapa Flow when all ships had finished. Passed mine sweepers en route. Submarine crew from 2-3. Arrived
Scapa about 3.0. p.m. Coaled ship 470 tons from “Horton”. Finished about 5.30. Cleaned ship and finished about 7.30.

December 18th 1916

Got under way about 9.30. 4″ guns crews supplied ammunition for guns. Church in forenoon. Pipe down afterwards. Arrived Cromarty about 3.30 p.m.
“Renown” came alongside with us.

December 17th 1916

Stokers started gettting up coal bays some time during Middle and barrows going under (d)errick (?) all night & so got tons of sleep. Coaling
@8.30 A.M. Took in 500 tons from “Melton”. Finished by dinner time. Cleaned ship in afternoon. Slung clean hammocks

December 16th 1916

Ordinary Routine. Scrubbed out Mess. Stripped down blocks of stump derrick in forenoon. Got under wasy at 1 o’clock. Went out into flow and ran Torpedoes. Rigged derricks for coaling in afternoon. Dropped anchor in Flow about 4.0 p.m. Destroyer attack in 1st dog Watch. Night defence crews closed up. Red forward, Blue aft, White in turrets. Got up hook about 6.15.p.m. and returned to anchorage. Duty Sub.

December 15th 1916

Hands went to breakfast at 7.15.A.M. Got under way at 8 o’clock. 4″ day Action Crews closed up. Fired 5 rounds per gun. Our battery did very good firing. Dropped hook again about 10.45.A.M. Make & mend in afternoon. Got head down.

December 14th 1916

Hands went to breakfast at 7 o’clock. Got under way about 8.0 AM. Rig of day No 5’s & so very cold. In aft Tower keeping Spotting Record for Sub Calibre in forenoon. Not much doing.

White crews fired 1″ first thing. Burnt Searchlights. Told off to see Captain in forenoon. Showed us letter from Admiralty saying we were not fitted for commissions except as A.P. and so all wash out. Captain told us the we might be able to get transferred to Army and we all decided to do so. Not much doing in afternoon. Went back to anchorage at 1.30.p.m.
