Carried on with pinnace in forenoon. Had long dinner hour until 2 o’clock. Pinnace 1st part of afternoon. Got under way about 2.30. 4″ guns crews packed up work to watch torpedo firing to get used to tracks. Did Torpedoe firing with “Tiger”. Fired two each. Returned to harbour about 6.30. Got under way again about 9 o’clock. Night defence sounded at 9.30. Fired .303 blank at target illuminated by searchlight. P.O. Mathews (? of picket boat)got hit in hand by 1 inch aiming. (?) Packed up at 11 o’clock & returned to harbour.

Scrubbed decks with sand before breakfast. Up hook about 7.30. Anchored again when got into bay. 1″ arriving in forenoon. Got under way again about 1.30. Sub Calibre firing in afternoon. Working on pinnace in afternoon. Hands remained in rig of day after tea until we dropped anchor again at 5.0.p.m. Fletcher and Fate came alongside in cutter in afternoon.

Prepared for coaling after breakfast. Hands went to church but 2nd part of Starboard stood fast to rig stump derrick. Arrived Scapa Flow about 1 o’clock. All Grand Fleet cheered ship as we passed. Took in 410 tons. Started about 2 o’clock and finished before 4. Scrubbed decks after tea. Put back all clocks 1 hour in accordance with Scapa Flow time.

2nd Anniversary of declaration of War. Holy stoned decks before breakfast. Told off for Docky and Working Party. Went to breakfast at 6:45. Left ship at 8 o’clock. Went over to dry dock and scraped “Indomitables” bottom. Stopped there until 4 o’clock. Not much of a job. Preparded for sea at 8 o’clock 7 got under way about 10.0 p.pm Had first Watch. Pretty windy.

Hands called at 4.15. Collier could not get alongside for some time and so we did not start until 6.0 A.M. Took in 610 tons from “Sheaf Arrow”.
Rotten collier. Had to break bulk. Did not finish until after breakfast. Scrubbed upper & mess deck before dinner. Had long dinner hour. Fell in
at 2.0 pm. Down in Flats gun quarters in afternoon.

Scraping up pitch from after 4″ deck in forenoon. Make & mend in afternoon. Played cards for an hour and then got head down. Duty Sub. Prepared
for coaling after tea. 2nd part Starboard piped about 5.30 to stow away armour plates in Engineers Workshop. Worked until 9.15 and so had good
evening.
