Usual Sunday Routine. Cook of Mess. Scrubbed out Mess before breakfast. Divisions & prayers in forenoon. Pipe down in afternoon. Got head to bear. Windy day. 

July 30th 1916

Holy stoned decks before breakfast. Painting under fore-shelter deck in forenoon & in “B” Turret again in afternoon. Finished at 3. Cook of Mess. Made duff in evening. 

July 29th 1916

Told off for “B” Turret again. Enameled out (?) cabinet. Took forenoon & afternoon over it. Finished about 2.30 and so had slack time. Duty post. Stowing provisions in dog watches.

July 28th 1916

Told off to paint out Cabinet in “B” Turret in forenoon. Make & mend in afternoon. Fine day so got head down on upper deck.

July 27th 1916

Hands called at 4.45 (1/2 hour earlier than usual). Scrubbed decks with caustic (?). Painted ships side. Scraping behind foremost screen in forenoon & (?) leading same in afternoon. Party of visitors came on board at 2.30 and so hands had to make themselves small & so packed up work early. 

July 25th 1916

Usual Sunday Routine. Divisions & church in forenoon. New parson (who was on “Centurion” with me) preached first sermon. Head down in afternoon. Another fine day.

July 23rd 1916

 Holy stoned decks before breakfast. Scrubbed mess deck & cleaning quarters in forenoon. Make & mend in afternoon. Head down on after deck. Fine day.

July 22nd 1916

Getting net booms off all day. Finished about 4.30 pm. Had rest of day to ourselves for a change.

July 21st 1916

Left dock about 6.0 AM. Tied up to buoy. Started coaling about 8.0 AM. Took in 550 tons from Agnes Duncan. Finished and cleaned ship by dinner. Started ammunitioning at 1.15. In lighter getting in 4: shells until 7 0’clock. Carried on in “X” Magazine stowing cordite until 10 o’clock.

July 20th 1916

Unlaced nets before breakfast. Went to service in No 3 dock by Bishop of London in forenoon. Very good address. Bishop came on board and addressed troops. Carried on with nets until 7.30. Port Watch until 11.0 p.m.
