Usual routine. New Commander took over. Commander Parker left. 4″ drill & physical drill in forenoon. Very wet day.

Usual forenoon routine. Make and mend in afternoon. Rumours that German submarine picked up outside with 22 dead on board

New routine. Turned out at 6.45.a.m. Breakfast at once. Fall in at 8′ o’clock. Nice day but very cold. Lots of buzz around re leave.

Pay day. Heard Commander Parker was leaving “Lion”.

Sunday Routine. Church in forenoon. Pipe down in afternoon. Service in evening.

Arrived Cromarty and coaled ship 1150 tons.

November 26th 1914

Nothing doing and so all fed up as we thought we were in for a bit of sport this time. Arrived Cromarty at 4 a.m. tomorrow. Notice on board that Admiralty failed to send aircraft and so spasm was a failure.
