Exercise Action in “X” turret reserves to drill in forenoon. Landed with 2nd part of Starboard in afternoon. Coaling tomorrow.

July 9th 1915

Went ashore with Church Party to open air Service in Rosyth Day Dock, conducted by the Archbishop of York. Very impressive Service. Must have been somewhere near 10,000 troops present. Archbishop gave a fine address. Mess deck painting party in afternoon. 

July 8th 1915

Provision Ship. Raining hard all day with hardly a break. Archbishop of York came on board and addressed  ships company under fore shelter deck about noon. 

July 7th 1915

Mess deck painting party all day. Rotten number. 

July 6th 1915

Guard steerage. Went ashore in afternoon. Nothing doing in Submarine line. 

July 5th 1915

Came off Sick List & reported myself for duty. Colin and I nearly decided to put in for commission in R.H.D. but on second thoughts decided to wait until we knew more about it. Some excitement in evening caused by report of submarince between the two gates. All picket boats in Fleet showed up with 3 pdrs & stopped away all night. Got nets out about 10.30 p.m. and turned in about 11.30. 

July 4th 1915

Still on Sick List. Transferred to light duty on 3rd. Nothing much doing. 

June 30th to July 3rd 1915

Last days 10A. (Thank goodness), Diving party using pinnace. Saw Doctor about boil as hand had swollen. Put on Sick List. Doctor lanced it making wound of about half an inch. Went ashore in afternoon. Lovely when we started but got caught in thunderstorm on way back and all got drenched.

June 29th 1915

Started coaling at 6.0 AM. Took in 370 tons. Finished before breakfast. Had boil on hand. Had it dressed in sick Bay.

June 28th 1915

Church in forenoon. Admiral dished out D.C.M’s for Dogger Bank. Coal tomorrow.
