Had Morning Watch. Weather been heavy all the trip. Uncomfortable Roll. Had 1st dog. Got into Rosyth about 11.0 p.m.

4″ firing in forenoon. 8 rounds per gun. Firing very satisfactory especially Starboard after Battery (our battery). Heard King Eddy* had been torpedoed. Had last dog.

Had Middle Watch. Overslept and was 1/2 adrift. Action Stations all day. Very fed up as there seemed to be no object in it. Did not even close up but had to remain in Battery. Don’t like playing at Sailors.

Nothing doing. Buzzes about going out on 31st. Duty Sub New Year’s Eve and slept New Year in under fore shelter deck.
