Scrubbed ship’s bottom and emptied dock or rather did so until 11.30 when dockyard workmen took over. Went on leave again at 3 o’clock. Arrived Edinburgh about 4.30. Colin and I decided to have a look round and so had tea and strolled about until the 7.45 train. Arrived home the same time as before.

Got under way about 8.30 for Newcastle. Had some difficulty in finding mouth of Tyne on account of fog. Found it eventually about 10 o’clock. Had great reception going up river. Crowds along bank and steamers blowing off in welcome. Returned all ammunition. Tied up along Armstrong’s Yard. Left ship about 6 o’clock. Spent evening in Newcastle with Colin & Sid. Had grub and went to Empire. Caught 11.19 from Newcastle.
