Cleaning down under fore-top. Slipped when coming from bos’uns chair to ladder leading to foretop. Lost hold and went clean over direction tower rails, catching nose and eye on the way. Went from there to foremost funnel and bounced from funnel to lower yard which I managed to hang onto somehow or other. Very close shave as it was a non-stop run from yard to deck of about 60 feet. Had face dished up. Had 3 stitches put in it. On Sick List.

King’s Inspection. Paraded on ground about 9.30. All the other ships there when we arrived. Huge muster. King arrived and gave speech which none of us could hear. Marched passed King afterwards. (“Lion” in single file). Had to wait in dockyard until he had finished going over ships. King lunched on board “Lion” with Admiral. Manned ship after dinner and cheered King as
he left. Pipe down afterwards. Admiral made K.C.V.D. (?)
