Coaling finished (thank goodness). Scrubbed decks with sand. Fell out for cook & helped Bill Pacy clean up. Told off for Hospital Party to take Midshipmen Turner to Hospital. Left ship at 12.30.pm. Finished by 1 o’clock. 3 Volunteers and two others in Party. Went to Navy House, South Queens ferry. Had yarn with “swatties” there and as much beer as we wanted. Went with Selous and had tea in village. Went back to Navy House afterwards and had sing-song with “swatties”. Returned quite sober (more than 3 of our party could say). Left shore at 6.30.
