Daylight Saving Bill came into force. Did not make much difference. Marched past skipper at divisions. Head down on upper deck in afternoon. 

May 21st 1916

Canteen painting party again. Painted hut and canteen windows. Dinner at Y.M.C.A. Not so much “hops” but plenty. Duty Searchlight. Slept forward.

May 20th 1916

Canteen painting party all day. Painted out Officer’s hut & kitchen. Had dinner at Y.M.C.A. Very good (?). Tons of ‘hops’ in afternoon. Duty Sub. Slept forward. Very foggy all day.

May 19th 1916

Seamen landed in forenoon. Did a little batallion drill and marched back via North Queensferry. Very nice but extremely warm. Make & mend in afternoon. “Phoenix” shoved off and “Narcissus” came alongside. Went over her in evening. 

May 18th 1916

Hands called at 5.0 A.M. Started coaling at 6.30. Took in 340 tons. Finished before breakfast. Cleaned ship in forenoon. Make & mend in afternoon. Cook of Mess.

May 17th 1916

Russian delegates came on board. Holy stoned decks etc in their honour. Exercise Action in forenoon. Dinner at 12.30. In Flat in afternoon. Destroyer “Phoenix” came alongside. 

May 16th 1916

Put Middies bedding to air in forenoon. Working on Seahouse Slips in Cable Locker in afternoon. Duty Sub 1st Advance Party went on leave.

May 15th 1916

Usual Sunday Routine. Wet day. Head down in afternoon.

May 14th 1916

Not feeling quite up to the work. Got thick head. Holy stoned decks before breakfast. In flat all forenoon. Admiral Jellicoe  came on board. Working with Mess Deck Painting Party in afternoon.

May 13th 1916

Exercise Action in forenoon. Scraping pitch off decks afterwards. In flat all afternoon.
