fire. Our firing very good. Proceed to Scapa Flow when all ships had finished. Passed mine sweepers en route. Submarine crew from 2-3. Arrived
Scapa about 3.0. p.m. Coaled ship 470 tons from “Horton”. Finished about 5.30. Cleaned ship and finished about 7.30.

Ordinary Routine. Scrubbed out Mess. Stripped down blocks of stump derrick in forenoon. Got under wasy at 1 o’clock. Went out into flow and ran Torpedoes. Rigged derricks for coaling in afternoon. Dropped anchor in Flow about 4.0 p.m. Destroyer attack in 1st dog Watch. Night defence crews closed up. Red forward, Blue aft, White in turrets. Got up hook about 6.15.p.m. and returned to anchorage. Duty Sub.

White crews fired 1″ first thing. Burnt Searchlights. Told off to see Captain in forenoon. Showed us letter from Admiralty saying we were not fitted for commissions except as A.P. and so all wash out. Captain told us the we might be able to get transferred to Army and we all decided to do so. Not much doing in afternoon. Went back to anchorage at 1.30.p.m.

Had Middle Watch. Still very cold & windy. Hands called at 6.15. Had breakfast & shifter into coaling rig straight away.
Arrived Scapa Flow about 8.0 p.m. Started coaling at 10.0 p.m. Took in 650 tons from “Cedar Tree”. Finished at 12.30 p.m. Cleaned ship in afternoon.
